When does Cor-Ten steel start to rust and can it rust through?

The patina develops within a few weeks to months, depending on the weather conditions.

Rain and moisture accelerate the process. Initially, the surface may appear uneven, but over time, a uniform, warm rusted look develops, which protects the material.

Unlike conventional steel, no destructive corrosion occurs. Under normal garden use, rusting through is not to be expected.
Will the rust stain my patio or stone floor?

Over time, Corten steel forms a natural noble rust patina.
In the initial phase, as with any rusting metal, heavy rain can lead to slight rust runoff.

Once the protective patina has fully formed, the surface is sealed and the material is stable. After this, no further staining usually occurs.

💡 Tip:
If you are laying sensitive, very light stone surfaces directly adjacent, we recommend a temporary cover or a small gap during the initial phase.
How long does Corten steel really last?

Thanks to its 1.5 mm material thickness and protective patina, Corten steel is designed for long-term use.

With normal use in the garden, the angle remains dimensionally stable and functional for many years, without losing stability.

Why is my lawn edging corner connector gray upon delivery?

Our lawn edging angles are delivered in the natural raw state of Corten steel.
The typical rust patina only forms outdoors through rain, sun, and air – completely naturally.

Depending on the weather, the process starts after a few days and develops into a protective rust layer within a few weeks.

The gray surface is therefore not a defect, but the natural starting point for the durable Corten steel look.
Will there be color differences compared to my lawn edging elements?

No. Since the angles are made of the same material, the patina develops evenly and harmoniously throughout the entire system.
Will the connection remain permanently stable?

Yes. The screwed fixation keeps the lawn edging elements precisely aligned and dimensionally stable, even in the event of frost, ground movement or load.
